Trip Information

Bhutan trek is a complete package where you get to trip around the Bhutan valley as well as do some places of trekking area. Bhutan is a small Himalayan kingdom with the fine natural environment with an amazing landscape and mythical country having a rich culture and many fortresses where lots of visitors come to visit this beautiful place which lies in the eastern Himalayas which lies to the north of china and to the south of India. Trekking in Bhutan can include hiking through high passes at 5,500 meter with almighty landscape and magnificence views of the Himalayan Mountains. In Bhutan it provides a range of treks for varied aptitude stages.

This tour and trek begins from an airstrip to Paro and exploring the Paro and then we will be visiting the Takshang Monastery also known as tiger nest most of visiting area at the high cliff at 31200meter above the sea level. It is also one of the iconic landscapes and religious site for the Buddhism. After that we hike for a short time to jele dzong at a height of 3436 meter where you get to view the whole beautiful paro valley and the few surrounding mountain can be spot. After that we will be passing through the rhododendron and alpine forests to Jangchulakha (3,962m) with the view of awesome snowcapped peaks. On the trail we will be visiting some yak herders. Then trek to Jimilang Tsho (3,880m), Simkotra (4,090m) the trail goes through dense rhododendron forest and some yak herder’s camp where we will be camping our site at Simikotra lake close by after that we ascends to thimpu where we get to view the utmost mountain in Bhutan Mt Gangker Phuensum and other several mountain can also be viewed. Descending down through the juniper trees to Phajoding to Thimphu reaching thimpu we will be visiting the great national school of arts and painting s where there are different kinds of local arts and thankas (embroidery painting), national museum where you get to observe the ancient culture of artifacts and beautiful antique thankas etc. and lastly visiting tashi dzong and fly back to Kathmandu.

ITINARARY

Day 1 -Arrival at Paro Airport (2,280m)

You can take flight to Paro from Bangkok, New Delhi, Kathmandu, Dhaka etc. We recommend you to fly from Bangkok because Druk air offers everyday flight from Bangkok – Paro – Bangkok whereas Druk air does not operate everyday flights from other sectors.

Our airport representative will welcome you at the airport and transfer to your hotel on a private tourist vehicle. After lunch, we visit the Paro Dzong and the National Museum. The evening ends with a walk through Paro’s main shopping district. You will spend night at a hotel.

Day 2 - Day excursion from Paro to the Taktsang Monastery

We take a day excursion to Taktsang Monastery or the Tiger’s Nest, the most spectacular monastery and probably the most photographed one in Bhutan. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery, hence its name. The excursion to monastery’s view point takes about 5 hours for a round trip. Lunch will be served at the cafeteria, followed by a short walk back. We'll have a leisure evening to take some rest before the trekking starts the following day. You will spend a night at a hotel.

Day 3 - Trek from Paro to Jele Dzong (3,436m) - Distance: 8km - 5 hrs

Today is a short trekking day. We start from above the National Museum, gradually ascending up to the camp. If the weather is clear Paro valley and the surrounding mountains can be seen. The campsite is near the old Jele Dzong which, we can visit in the evening. You will spend night at a tented campus.

Day 4- Trek to Jangchulakha (3,962m) - Distance: 9km - 5 hrs

We begin with a 1.5-hour climb and then further ascend gradually through thick alpine forests and rhododendrons. There is fine views of snow capped peaks and you may hear some monal pheasants calling during the day. You may see yak herders around your campsite. You will spend night at tented camp.

Day 5 - Trek to Jimilang Tsho (3,880m) - Distance: 10 kms - 6 hrs

The trail follows the ridge and on a clear day the views of the mountains and valley are beautiful. Our camp is close to Lake Jimilangtsho. This lake is known for its giant-sized trout. You will spend night at a tented camp.

Day 6 - Trek to Simkotra (4,090m) - Distance: 7 kms - 4 hrs

The trail takes you through dwarf rhododendron trees and passes by the lake of Janetsho. Today you may come across some yak herder’s camp. We camp overnight close to Simkotra lake. You will spend night at a tented camp.

Day 7 - Trek to Thimphu via Phazoding - Distance: 14 kms - 7 hrs

After the lake, the trail is a gradual climb and if the weather permits you will have a majestic view of Mt. Gangker Phuensum, the highest mountain in Bhutan, and other mountain peaks. The trail slowly descends through junipers tress and finally descends down to Phajoding monastery from where Thimphu town is visible at the valley floor. The trek from Phajoding to Thimphu is downhill all the way, passing through a forested area mostly blue pine. With a leisurely pace, you can reach Thimphu in about 2 hours. You will spend night at a tented camp.

Day 8 - Drive from Thimphu to Paro

Full day sightseeing of the Thimphu valley. Visit to National Library, Traditional Medicine Institute, Arts & Crafts School, Textile and Folk Heritage Museum, National Memorial Chorten, Zilukha Nunnery, Traditional paper factory, Zilukha Nunnery, Takin mini Zoo, Handicrafts Emporium, local shops. Finally, a visit to Tashichho dzong ends the day. Evening departure to Paro. You will spend night at a hotel.

Day 9 - Departure from Paro (by Druk Air)

After breakfast our airport representative will drop you at the Paro International Airport for your flight departure from Bhutan.

Luggage/Backpack:

You have to carry your own small baggage containing your own water bottle, towel, tissue or toilet paper, camera or any other stuff which you usually carry and this small baggage should be carried by yourself. Some of the gears and clothes which are not needed during your trip can be left in the hotel safe deposit box carefully locking it properly and for the deposit there will be no charges so, you can freely keep your belongings which are not needed..  

Guide:

We the company Ganesh Himal hiking team will be providing you the well expert trained/experienced guide who will be handling all your trip issue. Like if you are in a huge group tour like more than 10 people than we will be providing you an extra guide which will be divided into two groups or more than three according to the number of people in the group. 

Personal Expenses:

Your personal expenses should be deposited by yourself like if you addicted to alcohol and all the alcohol you consume during your trip should be paid by yourself that goes to snacks or any other additional meals. Though the cost of accommodation and meals are included in package but such additional meals and drinks- alcohol and non-alcohol beverage, snacks, tips for guide and porters, hot shower- accessible only in some hotel, entrance fee etc It is up to you whether you like to give tips to the guide and porter, if you are satisfied with their services then you can tip them.

Our Greetings at Airport:

We suggest you that when you are confirmed for this trip we advise you to give us your international flight schedule so, we the team can easily get to you and pick you up from the airport on time. As soon as you finish processing the customs formalities and come out from there and there you can find our representative carrying a signboard of Ganesh Himal Hiking Team and the team will greet you and take you to the hotel in private vehicle. Like if you have already booked the hotel by your own then we advise informing the hotel that you are staying so it will be easy for our representative to drop you at the hotel.

Itinerary and Possible Changes on it:

Our usual itinerary is main customary and pragmatic which has also included your arrival day, departure day. If you like to adjust the itinerary we can set it for you as per your desire so, before that let us know before booking the trip and then we will arrange the itinerary and the cost. Like if you like to extend more days then we will even manage it for you as in our package we have kept extra day because we don’t know the situation of Himalaya weather it suddenly changes and faces problems like delayed flights or cancellation of flight.

Booking and Payment:

For booking any trip, first you have to deposit 20% in advance if you are confirmed for the trip you have to send even your flight detail schedule, a passport photocopy and if you cancel the booking then this 20% is not -refundable.  The remaining 80% can be paid when you reach Kathmandu and if you want to pay in advance you can deposit it by transferring through a bank, credit card, even throughout Pay pal account lets us know then we will be sending you the detail for payment.

We received outstanding personal service from Binod and his team at Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. It was an exceptional experience in every way. We were met at the airport, he gave us personal transportation along with many great tours to cultural sites in Kathmandu, he took us to some wonderful restaurants and he set us up in a very nice hotel in Thammel. Binod really knows how to take great care of his clients with a personal touch. We also loved meeting his mother, father and his family which added greatly to our cultural experience in Nepal.

Additionally, Binod's brother Bishnu, was our guide on our trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Bishnu took excellent care of my trekking partner and me throughout the trek to Everest Base Camp and back. Our trek was also an amazing cultural experience as well as a remarkable trekking experience! We loved the Nepalese people and, of course, we loved seeing the incredible scenery. Also, Binod personally guided us on a trip to Pokhara, Nepal where he arranged for us a guided rafting trip, a paragliding trip and a trip to Chitwan National Park where we did a tour on the back of an elephant spotting wildlife and we were able to attend a nice cultural program. The accommodations in Pokhara and the food were fantastic.
