Annapurna North Base Camp Trekking

Trip Information

The main highlights of North Base Camp of Annapurna are the views of Annapurna I, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchare, Dhaulagiri, natural hot spring, & exploring Gurung cultures and lifestyle on these remote areas.

Up to 1950, no mountain vistas higher than 8000 meters had ever been ascended. On 3rd of June 1950, a French expedition team led by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal became the first climbers in history to climb the summit of Himalayan Mountain Annapurna I.

This expedition group wanted to try either Dhaulagiri (8167 meters) or Annapurna I (8091 meters) and the team initially made a move to start looking for a route to both of these & came to the conclusion that Dhaulagiri was too difficult to ascend, they found their way to the North Face of Annapurna.

The route to North Base Camp of Annapurna is now popular as the French North Face Route.

As they reached the summit of Annapurna without oxygen, down to and from Annapurna became a great challenge and adventurous for them. It was a crazy descent, dodging the snow storm, avalanches, and other miss-happens. Both the group barely made it back to the camp. Annapurna wasn’t then climbed up again until 1970. After that, British Army expedition followed the same route to get into the summit.

Mountain lovers, adventurous people in few numbers, are now exploring Annapurna North Face Base Camp despite the difficulty of the trail. So fresh and everlasting experience awaits you! Ganesh Himal Hiking Team operates this climbing to the Annapurna North Base Camp and safely guides you to the Base Camp of Annapurna I. However, it is a difficult trekking but certainly allows you to explore the beauty of the Himalayas with various panoramic views.

This adventurous trekking is best for Filming and Photography. We provide highly expert, professional mountain guides, and Sherpa to take care of our trekkers.

The preferable season for trekking to this Annapurna North Base Camp is spring (March-May) and fall (September-December). Please feel free to email or contact us if you have further inquiries about this adventurous trek of the Annapurna region.

If in case we are not able to book the room in advance, we can book it upon reaching there as these areas have ample of lodges and tea houses. If for some reason, we aren’t able to book a lodge/teahouse - we can easily set a camp which will be the most adventurous part of the trek itself.

Best Seasons:

The flawless seasons for touring/trekking is in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November). One can travel in winter if you are well adapted to cold. We strongly recommend the clients not to trek on monsoon in June, July, and August because of heavy rains & extremely blazing heat in the afternoon.

Available Gears/Equipment:

Trekking equipment is readily available in the stores of Kathmandu at a very reasonable price or it can also be hired with a minimal charge per day. So, you don’t have to buy or carry from your hometown.

A Usual Day on Trek:

These are the approximate guidelines for a trek on each day which may differ according to the itinerary or schedule or your pace while trekking.

Normally, you are required to trek for 4-6 hours each day. We start our trek after breakfast and stop for the lunch. We trek for 3-4 hours after lunch to reach our destination. If we reach our destination in afternoon, you can spend rest of the hours relaxing, take shower or just wander around.

Greetings at the Airport:

After booking and confirming your North ABC trek with us, we suggest you flow all the information such as - your number of days of stay, departure date, returning date, & international flight details (arrival time, flight number). After getting this information, a representative of Ganesh Himal Hiking Team can easily pick you up from the airport on time.

After you complete the formalities of the airport and come to the exit gate, you can spot GHHT member holding a placard of your name or GHHT waiting outside the terminal. After meeting and greetings, we will transfer you to the hotel in our private car. If you have booked the hotel by yourself, please let us know in advance, so that we can drop you at your respective hotel.

Changes in the Itinerary:

Our regular itinerary of the North ABC Trek is 18 days unless you have customized it.  The itinerary has been carefully designed by our operation manager which is very pragmatic & includes the high altitude acclimatizing. These 18 days includes your arrival day, departure and sightseeing Kathmandu. It also may have an extra day which allows flexibility to adjust the delay or cancellation of flight due to sudden changes in the Himalayan weather.

If you would like to extend more days or lessen some, we surely can do that as per your wish.

Safety Measures:

Client’s safety is our main priority and we make sure that each and every client is well taken care of.  If by chance anyone gets sick during the trek, we will take you to the nearest hospital as soon as possible. If the condition is serious – we will use the rescue helicopter to take you to the nearest hospital while all the expenses will be carried out by the travel insurance company. We suggest you get insured for up to 6000 meters.

Please go thoroughly what’s covered and not in the insurance policy.

Booking and Payment:

After confirming or booking the trip – all we need is the copy of the passport, insurance policy, and the international flight details (ticket). Then, a 20% advance deposit is required for any trip, trek or expedition which is not refundable - used for reservations of hotels and lodges according to the itinerary.

The remaining balance is due when you arrive at Kathmandu and can be paid by any means convenient to you. We prefer payment via cash (to avoid any extra service charge) but bank transfer, credit cards, western union, and pay pal are also the accepted form of payments.

An amazing trip with Ganesh Himal Hiking to Kathmandu, Mt. Everest BC, Pokhara and Chitwas

hil32015 | Spokane, Washington | October 26 , 2014

Rating: 5 - Excellent

We received outstanding personal service from Binod and his team at Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. It was an exceptional experience in every way. We were met at the airport, he gave us personal transportation along with many great tours to cultural sites in Kathmandu, he took us to some wonderful restaurants and he set us up in a very nice hotel in Thammel. Binod really knows how to take great care of his clients with a personal touch. We also loved meeting his mother, father and his family which added greatly to our cultural experience in Nepal.

Additionally, Binod's brother Bishnu, was our guide on our trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Bishnu took excellent care of my trekking partner and me throughout the trek to Everest Base Camp and back. Our trek was also an amazing cultural experience as well as a remarkable trekking experience! We loved the Nepalese people and, of course, we loved seeing the incredible scenery. Also, Binod personally guided us on a trip to Pokhara, Nepal where he arranged for us a guided rafting trip, a paragliding trip and a trip to Chitwan National Park where we did a tour on the back of an elephant spotting wildlife and we were able to attend a nice cultural program. The accommodations in Pokhara and the food were fantastic. I highly recommend Binod and his Ganesh Himal Hiking Team to anyone who is interested in receiving the best service and the best trekking and cultural experience in Nepal.
