Trip Information

Mardi Himal is at an altitude of 4100 meters & the trekking trail is recently opened one located in the eastern part of the Annapurna Himalayan range on the south-west ridge of Mount Machappuchre (Fishtail). Mardi Himal Trekking is one of the excellent cultural treks of the Annapurna region. This trekking offers you stunning views of the whole Annapurna ranges like Mount Annapurna (8091 m), Annapurna III (7555 m), Annapurna IV (7525 m), Annapurna II (7937 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Hiunchuli (6441 m) and Machapuchare (a sacred peak which has never been climbed yet - 6988 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), etc.

Diverse kinds of flora and fauna can be perceived all the way throughout your Mardi Himal Trekking trails like thick dense rhododendron, oak, pine forests and different wild species like musk deer, Himalayan Thar, snow leopard, etc. The special charism of this trek is that you also get to experience the varied culture of Magar, Brahmin, Tamang and Gurung culture varied with practices of Buddhism and Hinduism.

Trekking to Mardi Himal can be accomplished within a week whereby we initially head to Pokhara via a scenic short flight (30 mins) or a private vehicle which takes about 6 hours to reach. The next day our trekking to Mardi Himal begins from Phedi. Our trail leads us to Deurali and after that, we will be passing through the thick forests & one of the forested camp finally to reach the Mardi Base Camp.

From here - we will be ascending down to Jhinu where there is a hot spring where we can relax and take a natural spring bath. From Jhinu - we then head towards Ghandruk – a local village mostly inhabited by the Gurung communities. And then, we retrace back to Pokhara and if you happen to have some more vacation time left, we can explore around the popular landmarks of the beautiful city of Pokhara such as Phewa Lake, the Davis fall, Mahendra Cave, etc. There are many other adventurous and recreational sports activities that can be done in Pokhara such as Bungee Jumping, Paragliding, etc.

Specific months for trekking to the Mardi Himal is on the month of February to May and September to December which gives clearer views of the magnificent mountains. Other months other than spring and fall are also feasible but to get the picture-perfect vista you desired for, we GHHT suggest you to trek during the specific months mentioned above.

Ganesh Himal Hiking Team (GHHT) also provides an option for you to customize your itinerary - such as by prolonging or abbreviating it, according to your vacation schedule. If you happen to know some other places you would like to visit, you can surely combine that and send it to us. We suggest you get insured for up to 6000 meters.

An amazing trip with Ganesh Himal Hiking to Kathmandu, Mt. Everest BC, Pokhara and Chitwas

hil32015 | Spokane, Washington | October 26 , 2014

Rating: 5 - Excellent

We received outstanding personal service from Binod and his team at Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. It was an exceptional experience in every way. We were met at the airport, he gave us personal transportation along with many great tours to cultural sites in Kathmandu, he took us to some wonderful restaurants and he set us up in a very nice hotel in Thammel. Binod really knows how to take great care of his clients with a personal touch. We also loved meeting his mother, father and his family which added greatly to our cultural experience in Nepal.

Additionally, Binod's brother Bishnu, was our guide on our trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Bishnu took excellent care of my trekking partner and me throughout the trek to Everest Base Camp and back. Our trek was also an amazing cultural experience as well as a remarkable trekking experience! We loved the Nepalese people and, of course, we loved seeing the incredible scenery. Also, Binod personally guided us on a trip to Pokhara, Nepal where he arranged for us a guided rafting trip, a paragliding trip and a trip to Chitwan National Park where we did a tour on the back of an elephant spotting wildlife and we were able to attend a nice cultural program. The accommodations in Pokhara and the food were fantastic. I highly recommend Binod and his Ganesh Himal Hiking Team to anyone who is interested in receiving the best service and the best trekking and cultural experience in Nepal.
