Trip Information

Narphu valley trekking is recently open trekking trail in Annapurna region. This trekking has been opened for the voyagers only since 2003.so, only a few trekkers have visited this place. This trekking is one of the gratifying and doubtless the worlds desired trekking destinations in the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. This trekking is one of the finest areas for observing the grandiose mountains in the high land. The societies living here is Nepalese Tibetan where the Tibetan people having the citizenship of Nepal. They have settled in the place a century years ago.

The main magnetism of this Narphu valley offers you with mesmerizing views of Mt. Manaslu 8163meter, Mt. Dhaulagiri 8167meter, Mt. Annapurna I 8091m and more 19 snowcapped peaks of Annapurna trekking with  the amazing rocks during your trail. In this trekking to Nar phu you will be sightseeing the beautiful flora and fauna during your way to the Nar Phu valley. This is stimulating trek where you will be passing over high passes alike Masokanto La 5099meter, Kangla pass 5200m, Tilicho Pass 5230m with stunning tilicho lake. The other allure of this trek is you will be visiting ancient numerous Buddhists monasteries. On the trail you will be also spotting snow leopards and blue sheep which are frequently seen in the area.  Most of the individuals living in this region are habitually reliant on on the livestock.

This trekking to Narphu valley begins from Besisahar, we will gradually climb up the Marshyangi River Vale to Koto. Hither, we trek towards the northwards and come into the lately opened NarPhu Gorges of Upper Manang and then cross the exciting Kang La Pass. The Kang La Pass connects Nar with Manang and three alternative Bhotia hamlets in the Neyshang vale. Though this trekking is suitable during the spring season on the month of (March - April) and autumn during (September - November) are the best time to trek, however our GHHT operates this trek every year of the month.

ITINARARY

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, one of our representative from Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will be there waiting for you carrying a signboard of Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. They will welcome you and pick you up from the airport in private vehicle and take you to the respective hotel. After checking in into the hotel you can relax for awhile and freshen up. The Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will be hosting a farewell dinner in authentic Nepali restaurants which serve best Nepali cuisine which will be the preface of Nepali food culture. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

After breakfast we will commence our trip by sightseeing historical world heritage sites of Kathmandu and all the sites are listed in UNESCO world heritage sites. We began firstly by visiting the pre- historic Kathmandu durbar square next will be the Pashupatinath temple the holiest shrine of Hindus, next is Swambhunath temple simply known as monkey temple and at last we will be visiting the highest stupa in the whole world named Boudhanath stupa. In noon hours we will be visiting the Ganesh Himal Hiking Team office and we will introduce you to other fellow participants who will be joining with you. Our climbing expert will be checking all the equipments and in this small meeting part you can also ask any question or have any confuses related to this trip, you are free to discuss with leader of this company. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Kathmandu toward Jagat Drive at 1100 meter &73608 feet: 8-9 hrs.

Today we will begin our actual journey where we will first drive to Jagat. We will be leaving right after our breakfast. During our drive we will get to relish picturesque view of thick forests, rivers, small streams, farms and of course the glimpse of mountains. With long hours drive approximately 8-10 hours drive we will finally reach at Jagat through Besishahar till besishahar our trails road are very plain and smooth and from Besishahar our road becomes dusty nonetheless we will get amazing scenery during our drive.  We will spend our night in Jagat.

Day 04: Jagat toward Dharapani at 1,960 meter &6,430 feet: 7-8 hrs.

After the breakfast we will start our trek where we will descend from Jagat unless we don’t reach at river and from here we will trek via dense forests. We will then climb towards sharp edge cliff. On the way to Chyamje we will start getting view of mountain which is Annapurna mountain ranges. Then we will cross the suspension bridge and ascends steeply challenging slippery trail to Sattale. After that we will descend down to the riverbank which leads towards Tal. After that we will move towards steep forested trails to village karte. Trekking along with the view of dazzling cascading waterfall and huge cliffs we will then cross the suspension bridge and finally reaches at Dharapani. We will spend our night in Dharapani.

Day 05: Dharapani to Koto at 2,610 meter & 8,563 feet: 5-6 hours

Today our trek starts in morning heading to Bagarchhap which will approx take 1 hour trekking through fir and pine forests. On the way we will be visiting the white washed monastery and after exploring the monastery we will continue our trek towards Danaque which will approximately take one hour. The way where we will be trekking will be steeply and then we will climb up towards Timang. From here we will get breathtaking view of mount Manaslu and other 29 peaks. After that we will continue our trek via pine forests until we reach Latamarang which will take around one and half an hour to reach. We will then stop for a lunch and from here we will continue our trek via forests where we will get slightly view of mount Annapurna II. Continuing our trek we will reach at Koto village. We will spend our night in Koto.

Day 06: Koto to Meta at 3,560 meter &11,680 feet: 7-8 hrs.

In morning after breakfast we will head to police check point and register our trekking permit. We will then trek via river bank of soti khola over via fantastic pine forests, rivers, suspension and then we will arrive at Dharmasala. We will stop for a lunch and continue our trek all the way to the forests trail and then we will climb steeply to Meta village. After that we will reach at Tibetan plateau and enjoy the great view of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II. We will spend our night in Meta.

Day 07: Meta toward Phu Gaon at 4,250 meter &13,944 feet: 7-8 hrs.

Today we will start the day by crossing suspension bridge above varied small streams. After approximately trekking for four hours we will reach at Kyang and then we will spot some Kyang settlements which are mostly inhabited by Khamba people- the refugee from Tibetan had come to this area and settle here for long ago. Continuing trekking to Phu khola through rocky path we will reach at Phu village with additional 3- 4 hours trekking. We will spend our night in Phu Gaon.

Day 08: Acclimatization at Phu Gaon

Today is the planned day for acclimatization where we will be relaxing and properly adapt the altitude. We are at the Hidden valley of Phu where we will get to explore culture, religious practices of ethnic people living in this region whom are especially the Ghale and Gurung communities. Moreover we can also observe the people working in fields where the people of this region mostly depend on agriculture, animal breeding. We will be also visiting the oldest Buddhists monastery named Tashi Lhankhang monastery which is listed in 108 world huge monastery. The monastery was built by Karmapa Rinpoche. Not only you will be exploring the cultural, religious and cultural landmarks but you will also get to view stunning Himlung Himal and other snowcapped peaks. We will spend our night at Phu Gaon.

Day 09: Phu Gaon toward Nar at 4,110 meter &13,484 feet: 6-7 hrs.                

Today we will descends down passing several streams and cross the suspension bridge awaiting Mahendra pull which will take approximately 4 hours. After that we will be crossing another suspension bridge of 80 meter above the Lapche River. We will be having our lunch at Mahendra Pul. After that we will continue our trek for two hours where we will be passing by several Buddhists stupas and then we will reach at Nar village. In this village you will find some Buddhist monastery where you get to visit and explore the monastery not only that you will also get to observe striking Pisang peak and several snowcapped peaks. We will spend our night in Nar.

Day 10: Acclimatization and preparation at Nar

Today for the second time we will be acclimatizing the altitude as well as relax so instead of spending the day relaxing we will be doing small hiking where we will hike close to Nar village and explore the village the people culture, traditions and their lifestyles. We will be also preparing for tomorrow trek. We will spend our night at Nar.

Day 11: Nar toward Kang La Pass (5,322m/17,460ft) toward Ngwal at 3,660 meter &12,008 feet: 7-8 hrs.

Today we will be trekking for long hours so; we will wake up early morning and head on the trail that leads to Kangla pass. From the pass we will get amazing view of Annapurna. We will continue our trek towards Ngawal. We will spend our night in Ngwal.

Day 12: Ngwal toward Manang at 3,540 meter &11,614 feet: 4-5 hrs.

Today we will head towards Manang from Ngwal where we will be passing via remote village of Paugh where we will get magnificence view of mount Annapurna range. After that we will trek slowly uphill towards Mungli with few hours of trekking we will reach at Manang and here we will be setting our camp. We will spend our night at Manang.

Day 13: Manang toward Yak Kharka at 4,110 meter &13,484 feet: 3-4 hrs.

Today we will trek from Manang village where we will cross the streams and ascend towards Tenki over Manang and from there we will continue our climb to Marshayangdi valley which turns to the North West up to the valley of Jarshang Khola. We will trek to the valley by passing pasture land, juniper trees and from here the elevation started to gain. Further trekking we will pass by tiny village named Ghunsa. From here the trails heads via meadows where one can spot yak and horse graze. We will then cross small stream through wooden bridge and on the trail we will pass by oldest Mani wall and with few walk through lovely meadows we will reach at Yak Kharka village. We will spend our night at Yak Kharka.

Day 14: Yak Kharka toward Thorong Phedi -4,600 meter & 15,092 feet: 3-4 hrs.

Today we will be heading to Throng Phedi – it is a small settlement where climbers and trekkers stop for relaxation.  This point is also used as a base camp by trekkers. Some climbers attempt to hike to high camp today because on the next day it will be easier for climbers / trekkers although the Ganesh Himal Hiking Team leader does not recommend this. Tomorrow will be our adventurous journey so today we will take plenty rest at lower altitude instead of hiking to high camp and taking such risk spending night at higher altitude. We will spend our night at Thorong Phedi.

Day 15: Thorong Phedi toward Thorong La at 5,416 meter &17764 feet towards Muktinath at 3,800 meter &12,467 feet: 7-8 hrs.

Today we will be crossing tough challenging Thorong La pass at 5416 meter which is the main highlight of this trek. We will head early morning to Throng La pass and on the trail we will observe pictorial view of mountains. With lots of effort we overcome the Throrong la pass and then we will spend some relishing the view. After that we will head to Muktinath which is famous pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus. We will wander the area by visiting the Vishnu temple and some monastery close by. We will spend our night at Muktinath.

Day 16: Muktinath toward Jomsom at 2,715 meter &8,910 feet: 5-6 hrs.

Today we will start our day by descending down to spectacular Kali Gandaki gorge via parched land. After that we will pass khingar and Jharkot village where you can observe Tibetan architecture. After that we will follow the gorge and following the Kaligandaki river bank we will reach at Jomsom. We will spend our night at Jomsom.

Day 17: Jomsom toward Pokhara Flight at 823 meter &2,700f feet: 30 minute flight

Today from Jomsom we take a scenic flight to Pokhara where we will be enjoying the view of two huge mountain named Annapurna and Dhaulagiri including with other several snowcapped peaks. Reaching at Pokhara airport we will be taken to the hotel which is close to the lakeside. You can rest at the hotel and freshen up and evening you can stroll around the Pokhara city where you can walk around the side of the lake named Phewa Lake which is the 2nd biggest lake of Nepal and one can also get to view the Machapuchre- fishtail mountain. You can also enjoy boat ride in Phewa Lake or we can also hike to world peace pagoda. We will spend our night in Pokhara.

Day 18: Pokhara toward Kathmandu at 1,350 meter &4,428 feet: 5-6 hours drive

After breakfast we will drive to Kathmandu. Reaching Kathmandu our representative will take you to the hotel and you relax and pack you baggage and later you can also visit some of the souvenir shop and do shopping to your loved ones. In evening the Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will be hosting a farewell dinner as well as celebrating for successfully completing the trek. We will spend our night at Kathmandu.

Day 19: Final departure from Nepal

Today your journey Nar phu valley trek comes to an end and one of our representatives from the Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will be dropping you at the airport three hours earlier than your flight schedule.

Trip Note

Hotel and Lodge:

Ganesh Himal Hiking team arranges the best comfy and pleasant accommodation and provides you the well-nourished hygienic foods. Throughout your stay in Kathmandu i.e. 3 nights you will be staying at the best standard hotel which will be rating at 2- 3-star hotel. Although if you want to stay at 4- 5-star hotel in the well sumptuous hotel and are able to pay for this expenses then you have this kind of choices but for the luxurious hotel the payment should be deposited by the clients itself. As the Ganesh Himal Hiking team company can only afford the hotel which is the rate at 2-3 star hotels. However once you are set for your trek there will be no such facilities like in the city of Kathmandu and one should not expect like Kathmandu as we are trekking to the remote area so, we will be staying at tea houses and local lodges. In such hotel there will be a usual bed and of course pillow. Most of the lodges of this region depend on lanterns or candle only a few has the facility of electric lights nonetheless you will be getting clean hygienic food which is most important. Most of the lodges will be already booked earlier before your trek however in some situation we will be not able to book in advance but not to worry we can book -in while reaching there because there are ample of lodges and some tea houses in this region and if not we can easily set a camp which will the most adventurous part of the trek itself is interesting and adventurous.

Meals and Drinks:

We the company totally focuses on client’s meals by making sure that each and every client get the same portion which is clean hygienic and nourished which is most necessary while trekking. While trekking all the meals i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided but in the Kathmandu city sometimes breakfast and sometimes dinner are included where you can go through the each detail itinerary below. During trek breakfast and dinner will be served in the lodges or teahouses and for the lunch our expert trek leader or guide will be taking you the best clean hotels. However we suggest you carry a water purification tablets to purify the water as on the way you will get normal water but if you want bottled mineral water you will easily get in some shops or tea houses but the expense of the bottled water should be paid by the client itself as it is not included in package.

Best Season to Travel:

The flawless seasons for Nepal visit will be in the spring season in the month of March to May and autumn season on September and November. Even in winter one can travel but only if you can bear the cold weather season. We strongly recommended the clients not to trek on the monsoon season on the month of June, July and August because during this period it rains heavenly and in day afternoon the sun rays will be extremely blazing heat so, it will be difficult to trek. So, we suggest every client trek in the specific seasons.

Luggage/Backpack:

Throughout your trekking your luggage will be carried by our porters and you have to carry your own small baggage containing your own water bottle, towel, tissue or toilet paper, camera or any other stuff which you usually carry and this small baggage should be carried by yourself. Some of the gears and clothes which are not needed during your trek can be left in the hotel safe deposit box carefully locking it properly and for the deposit there will be no charges so, you can freely keep your belongings which are not needed. The Nepal domestic airlines do not exceed more than 15 kg which also includes your hand baggage. If your baggage exceeds more than 15 kg then some charge should be deposit which is not included in the package.  

Guide/Porter on Trek:

We the company Ganesh Himal hiking team will be providing you the well expert trained trekking guide who will be handling all your trip issue. Also we will be providing you a cordial and sincere porter who will be carrying your 10 kg luggage of each client. Like if you are trekking in a huge group like more than 10 people than we will be providing you an extra guide which will be divided into two groups or more than three according to the number of people in the group. 

Group Size, Guide and Crew Member:

Ganesh Himal hiking team arranges trek with the minimum solitary client to maximum 16 clients in a group. In the larger group we will be arranged by dividing the groups. However one can stay in the same lodge but during your trek you will be having a different guide. We the Ganesh Himal Hiking team offers one guide for maximum 10 people in the group and if the number exceeds more than 10 till 16 then we will be providing you 2 guides. 

Personal Expenses on Trek:

Your personal expenses should be deposited by yourself like if you addicted to alcohol and all the alcohol you consume during your trip should be paid by yourself that goes to snacks or any other additional meals. Though the cost of accommodation and meals are included in package but such additional meals and drinks- alcohol and non-alcohol beverage, snacks, tips for guide and porters, hot shower- accessible only in some hotel, entrance fee around $ 25 for visiting heritage sites of Kathmandu, meals while you are in Kathmandu and the normal meals will cost around $ 5-7. It is up to you whether you like to give tips to the guide and porter, if you are satisfied with their services then you can tip them.

Gears Available in Kathmandu:

For the trekking equipment you can easily get it at Nepal country stores at the reasonable price and if you like you can also rent the trekking equipment. You don’t have to carry or buy from your hometown because all the trekking gear can be easily available in this country –Nepal.  

A Typical Day on Trek:

On a customary day you are necessary to trek for 4-6 hours each day. After breakfast we will start to walk and then we will be stopping for a lunch and after lunch we will walk for 3-4 hours to reach our destination. After lunch we will be trekking only for few hours and we will reach our trekking destination in 1—2 hours. Like in some days you will reach your destination in afternoon hours and then you can have lunch and then relax, or take shower, read a novel or wander around the area and even you can play cards with the group, guide and all.

Our Greetings at Airport:

We suggest you that when you are confirmed for this trip we advise you to give us your international flight schedule so, we the team can easily get to you and pick you up from the airport on time. As soon as you finish processing the customs formalities and come out from there and there you can find our representative carrying a signboard of Ganesh Himal Hiking Team and the team will greet you and take you to the hotel in private vehicle. Like if you have already booked the hotel by your own then we advise informing the hotel that you are staying so it will be easy for our representative to drop you at the hotel.

Itinerary and Possible Changes on it:

Our usual itinerary of the trek is 17 days which is main customary and pragmaticwhich has also included your arrival day, departure day or Kathmandu sightseeing day tour are all included in this package itinerary. If you like to adjust the itinerary we can set it for you as per your desire so, before that let us know before booking the trip and then we will arrange the itinerary and the cost. Like if you like to extend more days then we will even manage it for you as in our package we have kept extra day because we don’t know the situation of Himalaya weather it suddenly changes and faces problems like delayed flights or cancellation of flight.

Insurance/Rescue/Evacuation:

Client’s safety is our main priority and makes sure that each and every client is well taken care of.  If by chance anyone got sick during trek we will take you to the hospital and if one is seriously ill then we will rescue a helicopter and then they will take you to the hospital and all the expenses are carried out by the travel insurance company so, make sure to cover the insurance policy. Booking and Payment:

For booking any trip, trek, expedition first you have to deposit 20% in advance if you are confirmed for the trek you have to send even your flight detail schedule, a passport photocopy and if you cancel the booking then this 20% is not -refundable.  The remaining 80% can be paid when you reach Kathmandu and if you want to pay in advance you can deposit it by transferring through a bank, credit card so, lets us know then we will be sending you the detail for payment.

We received outstanding personal service from Binod and his team at Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. It was an exceptional experience in every way. We were met at the airport, he gave us personal transportation along with many great tours to cultural sites in Kathmandu, he took us to some wonderful restaurants and he set us up in a very nice hotel in Thammel. Binod really knows how to take great care of his clients with a personal touch. We also loved meeting his mother, father and his family which added greatly to our cultural experience in Nepal.

Additionally, Binod's brother Bishnu, was our guide on our trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Bishnu took excellent care of my trekking partner and me throughout the trek to Everest Base Camp and back. Our trek was also an amazing cultural experience as well as a remarkable trekking experience! We loved the Nepalese people and, of course, we loved seeing the incredible scenery. Also, Binod personally guided us on a trip to Pokhara, Nepal where he arranged for us a guided rafting trip, a paragliding trip and a trip to Chitwan National Park where we did a tour on the back of an elephant spotting wildlife and we were able to attend a nice cultural program. The accommodations in Pokhara and the food were fantastic.
