Everest High Pass trek is a mode for real adventure, thrill and conquest to the highest passes - Renjo la( 5388m) , Kong La (5535m) and Cho la( 5380m) of the Everest region. The snowcapped mountains and glaciers gives you the best aerial view on our flight to Lukla making your heart jump. From Lukla our journey heads to Namche where we rest for a day to accimalatize with the environment and then head towards Debouche giving a beautiful view of Khumbu  region. On your way up you will find plenty opportunity to observe Sherpa lifestyle, culture, rituals, monasteries and learn how do they survive in such harsh environment? If lucky even spot  the endangered wildlife such as snow leopard, musk deer, thar, peasants, numerous species of orchids, rhododendron and what if the legendary  yeti’s. While climbing to Thame enjoy the beautiful painting of Chenreig, guru Ringpoche and Shakyamuni Buddha at 325 years old gompa getting a blessing move forwards Lumde where the freezing cold environment awaits. Continue this journey moving forward Gokyo via Renjo la pass to see for yourself beautiful Gokyo valley and curl up to Thaknak and Zungla via Chola la pass to enjoy magnificent view of  Cholatse, Baruntse, Nangpai Gonsain, Pasang Lhamo, Numbur and the beautiful pristine Cho la lake. Finally two down one to go to continue our ascend to Gorekshep leading to Kalapatthar enjoy a day at Everest base camp with a full length close cut view of Mt. Everest and surrounding eight thousanders. On the way back follow the same route reach Debouche and Chukkung passing through the bergschrund of Kong la pass also known as Khumbu la pass consecutively leading to Namche and to Lukla completing the high pass journey.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu at the altitude of 1300 m/4264 feet

Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport and finishing processing all your custom formalities and heading at the terminal gate you will spot our representative from the GHHT- Ganesh Himal Hiking Team waiting for you and then they will greet you and transferred you to the hotel. After checking in into the hotel you can relaxed and refreshed up and later you can visit our GHHT office which is in Thamel area which is the best tourist center where you can wander around then Thamel area. In evening the GHHT will be hosting a welcome dinner which serves you delectable Nepali cuisine.

Day 02: Sightseeing Kathmandu and trek preparation

Today after breakfast we will start our trip where we will be exploring the 4 main heritage sites of Kathmandu city which is listed in UNESCO world heritage sites and it is also the most popular and most visited sites. We will first began with pre-historic Durbar –Palace after that we will visit the sacred Pashupatinath temple next we will visit is Swambhunath simply called as monkey owing to lager number of monkey around the area so, it is known as monkey temple. Lastly we will visit the most known and best tourist center which is called the Boudhanath stupa which is the largest stupa in south Asia. Later we will visit the GHHT office for discussion of the trip and we will be introducing you to other trekkers who will be joining you and also you will get to know your trek leader and guide.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla, trek toward Phakding [2,651m/8,700ft]: 40 minutes flight; 8 kilometer, 3 - 4 hours trek

All of the Everest region trekking commence from Lukla where we will be taking mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and it is one of the scenic air route where one will be capturing breathtaking view of Himalayas including with other several peaks and of course not forget to mention the mighty highest mountain Everest. Reaching lukla we will commence our trek towards Phakding and after one hour of trekking with gradual descend we will reach at Cheplung village and then we will start getting the glimpse of mountain such as mount Khumbila one of the scared peak and it has never been summited. We will continue our trek from Cheplung and descend down to Phakding. We will spend our night in Phakding.

Day 04: Phakding toward Namche Bazaar [3,438m/11,280 ft]: 11km, 5 - 6 hrs.

Today our trekking trails are mostly uphill and downhill trail and even we will be crossing the Dudh Koshi River through suspension bridge and on the way towards Benkar village we will be welcome by stunning view of mount Thamserku. After crossing the bridges several times we will enter into Sagarmatha National Park which is at Monjo where our trekking permits will be checked. Before reaching Namche Bazaar we further continue our trek and pass via Jorsale village. From Namche we will get astonish with breathtaking view of Himalaya plus other peaks such as Everest, Tawache, Lhotse and many more. We will spend our night at Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Namche Bazaar: Rest and acclimatization

A day for acclimatization where our health experts advice that before heading to the high elevation one must properly adapt the altitude so, instead of taking full day rest we will stay active by doing short hike. We can even stroll around the Namche Bazaar or one can hike to Everest view hotel and enjoy the close view of Everest including with other peaks. We can also head to Khumjung monastery where Yeti scalp are kept and we can even tour at Hillary school. If you can we will also head to visit tourist visitor center which is close to the headquarter of Sagarmatha National park where you will get to learn varied flora and fauna of Everest region as well as observe the history of first ascender to Everest. We will spend our night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 06:  Namche Bazaar toward Tengboche [3860m/12,660 ft]: 10km, 5 - 6 hrs.

Today our trek will began with easy trail towards Phunki Thanga and then we will climb to Tengboche village which is the abode of the largest monastery of the Everest region. The Tengboche monastery is situated around the Sagarmatha National Park and from here one get picturesque view of highest mountain Everest including with other peaks such as Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse and Thamserku. We will make an effort to reach the monastery at 3pm in the afternoon so that we get to witness Buddhists religious ceremony. We will spend our night in Tengboche.

Day 07: Tengboche toward Dingboche [4,360 m/14,300 ft]: 9km, 5 - 6 hrs.

Today we will began our day with trekking downhill and then we will be passing via dense forests with thick rhododendron, conifers and birch trees. Continuing trekking with accompany of splendid Mountain View like Everest, Ama Dablam and Lhotse. After that we will drop down to Debuche and cross the Imja River which lead us to Pangboche. Trekking to the upper trails towards Pangboche we will get clear view of Himalayas and the Pangboche monastery. We will then continue our trek to Imja valley and Lobuche and from here we will ascend towards Dingboche. The Dingboche village is the most stunning village with windy trail with several chorten and prayer flags. We will spend our night in Dingboche.

Day 08: Dingboche: Acclimatization and rest

Dingboche is the perfect place for acclimatization where every climbers and trekkers stop for the acclimatization before heading to Mount Everest, Imja Tse and Ama Dablam. This village is the exquisite village with range of fields like barley, potato and buck wheat and it is bounded by stone wall for the protection of such grazing animals and strong winds. We can even hike towards Nagarjun hill to capture the stunning view of Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Tawache, Cholatse and many more. We will spend our night in Dingboche.

Day 09: Dingboche toward Chhukung [4750m/15,580 ft], climb Chhukung Ri [5,546m]: 14km, 6 – 7 hrs.

Today our trek passes on the trail via stone wall fields and heads towards the Imja Khola valley and then we will enter glacier moraines with rocky high mountains. Continuing trekking towards Bibre and from here one will gets amazing view of Amphu Labtsa and Ama Dablam peaks. From here our trails is crisscross by icy streams and continuing walking for half an hour we will reach at Chhukhang and then we will have our lunch and continue our trek to Chhukhang Ri. We will ascend to Chhukhang Ri and from the top of Chukhang Ri we will get fascinating view of Amphu Labtcha and Ama Dablam Peaks. After that we will retrace down to Chukhang. We will spend our night at Chhukhung

Day 10: Cross toward Kongma La pass [5535m/18,159ft], trek toward Lobuche [4940m/16,210ft]: 10km, 6 - 7 hrs.

Today we will begin our trek early morning to arrive at the highest pass which is Kongma la pass. There are two trails where we can take a path of the north east of Chukhang above the Nuptse glacier or we can even take a trail back towards Bibre and trek on the path over Niyang khola. On the way to the pass we will come across Buddhists prayer flags. The last descend from the pass will be the most challenging part of our journey. After ascending the moraine our trails turn to north via Khumu glacier which leads us to Lobuche. We will spend our night at Lobuche.

Note: trekking towards Kongma la pass is just kept for the optional like if you don’t want to undertake such challenging trail, we can directly head towards Lobuche from Chukhang.

Day 11: Lobuche toward Gorak Shep [5170 m/16,961ft], visit Everest Base Camp [5364 m/17,594 ft]: 13km, 6-7 hrs.

Today we will trek on the trail alongside the moraine of Khumbu glacier, on the way we will get to observe north ridge of Everest including with Mahalangur, Khumbutse, Nuptse, Lingtren and other several peaks. After that we will ascend for awhile which leads us towards Thangma Riju and from here one can relish picturesque view of Himalayan landscapes. After that we will climb on the steep trail towards Changri glacier and then we will reach at Gorak Shep which is surrounded by spectacular Himalayas. We will take a rest for while enjoying the view of mountains and then we will continue our trek towards Everest Base camp before that we will be passing via rocky hill, streams and moraines. Reaching at Everest base camp we will admire the mind blowing view of Khumbutse, Pumori, Nuptse and the highest mountain Everest and after that we will retrace our trek back to Gorak Shep. We will spend our night at Gorak Shep.

We can either head to kalapathar instead of heading it tomorrow as many adventurous trekkers says that the sunset view along with mountain view from Kalapathar is the most striking one.

Day 12: Gorak Shep toward Kala Patthar [5545 m/18,192 ft], then toward Lobuche [4940 m/16,207 ft]: 7km, 8 - 9 hrs.

Early morning we will head to Kalapathar to catch the extraordinary view of sunrise view reflecting on highest mountain Everest. Before that one must be prepared for such trekking towards kalapathar where we will be trekking to high altitude as well as cold temperature. Continuing trekking with accompany of several peaks like Khumbutse, Changtse, Nuptse, Lingtren and Everest. After a few hours climb we will reach at kalapathar. From Kalapathar one can enjoy close view of Everest including with other several peaks. After that we will descend down towards Lobuche. We will spend our night in Lobuche.

Day 13: Lobuche toward Dzongla [4830m/15,850 ft]: 6km, 3 - 4 hrs.

Today we will trek downhill along the Khumbu glacier where from here our path divide into two parts, we will be selecting the trail that is on right side where one can admire the view of Awi peak. On the way we will be passing via stupas and continuing trekking for while we will start to climb. While ascending we will get to observe Chola Tsho Lake close by. Further trekking we will be passing another lake which is smaller than the previous lake. After that we will be crossing the Chola Khola through a bridge and then arrives at Dzongla. We will spend our night in Dzongla.

Day 14: Trek toward Gokyo [4800m/15,580 ft] through Cho La pass [5368m/17,611 ft]: 6km, 7 - 8 hrs.

Today we will be trekking to the high altitude where Cho La Lake starts to emerge. As we will be ascending the incline which is quite challenging, it is a steep trail but the huge boulders on the path make it more difficult. The last ascend will be bit tricky as the path curve round the crevasses. The surrounding peaks are astonishing to view where we will enjoy the view. Though the trek is lengthy where the trails leads us down towards Thangnak and the trail is not so tough. We will continue our trek for while and then we will arrive at the edge of Ngozumba glacier-the highest glacier of Nepal. When we arrive at the other side of glacier we will get to observe the 2nd Gokyo Lake and with shot hike we will arrive at the 3rd Gokyo lake and within a while trekking and at the edge of the lake Gokyo village is situated. We will spend our night at Gokyo village.

Day 15: We will rest in Gokyo: Climb to Gokyo Ri [5357m/17,575 ft], tour 4th and 5th Gokyo lakes: 3 - 4 hrs.

Today we will ascend to Gokyo Ri and admire the magnificent view of mountains. We will be also touring the Gokyo- the fourth lake which is approximately 3 kilometer from Gokyo village after that we will continue our trekking towards the fifth lake and from the Scoundrel viewpoint situated at edge of fifth lake is amazing to view. Even we will admire Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Nuptse, Everest, Gyachung Kang and massive Ngozumba glacier is splendid to view. After that we will retrace back to Gokyo. We will spend our night at Gokyo.

Day 16: Gokyo toward Marlung [4210m/13,810 ft] through Renjo La Pass [5360m/17585 ft]: 11km, 7 - 8 hrs.

Today early morning we will continue our trek as today is a long journey so, we will move on early morning. We will began our trekking alongside the Dudh Koshi Lake and continuing trekking for two hours and descend down to Renjo La pass and on the way we will get to view captivating view of Himalayas, range of Rolwaling and many more. From the top of the pass one will get to view the mighty spectacular Mount Everest. Continuing trekking from the pass through windy trails and then e will head down to stone stair case and from there we will head to south bank of Angladhumba Tscho Lake. While descending down through icy trail will be bit dangerous. On the way we will get to observe Relama Tscho and Renjo La Lake. After that we will be walking down to narrow valley which is blocked by huge boulders and head towards Lumde and then trek for an hour to reach at Marlung. We will spend our night at Marlung.

Day 17: Marlung toward Namche Bazaar: 15km, 5 - 6 hrs.

Today we will be descending down from Marlung towards Thame by following the traditional path which is used from centuries by Tibetan traders. After that we will be crossing the Bhote Koshi River and descends towards Taranga. Before reaching Thame we will be crossing two bridges. Thame is known for the well known monastery positioned on high hill. Before reaching Namche Bazaar we will be descending down gradually and pass several village and then arrives at Namche which is the main town of the Everest region. We will spend our night at Namche.

Day 18: Namche Bazaar toward Lukla: 19km, 6 - 7 hrs.

Today we will start our trek with gradual descend and continuing our trek by crossing numerous bridges above rapid flowing Dudh Koshi river. From here our trail becomes more natural and level. We will be trekking in wide plain via pine and rhododendron forests as well as enjoying the view of snowcapped peaks. We will be trekking via Sherpa village with prayer wall stones and prayer flags and within a while we will reach at Lukla and then you can relax and stretch up your sore legs. We will spend our night in Lukla.

Day 19: Lukla toward Kathmandu: 40 minutes flight

The mountain flights usually fly in morning due to avoid such harsh unfavorable weather condition so early morning we will take a flight to Kathmandu. Reaching at the Kathmandu airport our guide will drop you at the hotel and you can relax or you can even do shopping to your loved ones as there are lots of souvenir shops in Thamel area where you can look around. In evening the GHHT- Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will be hosting a farewell dinner to celebrate for successfully completing the trek. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Final Departure

Our journey to Everest High pass trek comes to an end and one of our representatives from the GHHT- Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will be dropping you at the airport three hours earlier than your flight schedule.

Trip Note

Hotel and Lodge:

Ganesh Himal Hiking team arranges the best comfy and pleasant accommodation and provides you the well nourished hygienic foods. Throughout your stay in Kathmandu i.e. 3 nights you will be staying at the best standard hotel which will be rating at 2- 3-star hotel. Although if you want to stay at 4- 5-star hotel in the well sumptuous hotel and are able to pay for this expenses then you have this kind of choices but for the luxurious hotel the payment should be deposited by the clients itself. As the Ganesh Himal Hiking team company can only afford the hotel which is the rate at 2-3 star hotels. However once you are set for your trek there will be no such facilities like in the city of Kathmandu and one should not expect like Kathmandu as we are trekking to the remote area so, we will be staying at tea houses and local lodges. In such hotel there will be a usual bed and of course pillow. Most of the lodges of this region depend on lanterns or candle only a few has the facility of electric lights nonetheless you will be getting clean hygienic food which is most important. Most of the lodges will be already booked earlier before your trek however in some situation we will be not able to book in advance but not to worry we can book -in while reaching there because there are ample of lodges and some tea houses in this region and if not we can easily set a camp which will the most adventurous part of the trek itself is interesting and adventurous.

Meals and Drinks:

We the company totally focuses on client’s meals by making sure that each and every client get the same portion which is clean hygienic and nourished which is most necessary while trekking. While trekking all the meals i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided but in the Kathmandu city sometimes breakfast and sometimes dinner are included where you can go through the each detail itinerary below. During trek breakfast and dinner will be served in the lodges or teahouses and for the lunch our expert trek leader or guide will be taking you the best clean hotels. However we suggest you carry a water purification tablets to purify the water as on the way you will get normal water but if you want bottled mineral water you will easily get in some shops or tea houses but the expense of the bottled water should be paid by the client itself as it is not included in package.

Best Season to Travel:

The flawless seasons for Nepal visit will be in the spring season in the month of March to May and autumn season on September and November. Even in winter one can travel but only if you can bear the cold weather season. We strongly recommended the clients not to trek on the monsoon season on the month of June, July and August because during this period it rains heavenly and in day afternoon the sun rays will be extremely blazing heat so, it will be difficult to trek. So, we suggest every client trek in the specific seasons.


Throughout your trekking your luggage will be carried by our porters and you have to carry your own small baggage containing your own water bottle, towel, tissue or toilet paper, camera or any other stuff which you usually carry and this small baggage should be carried by yourself. Some of the gears and clothes which are not needed during your trek can be left in the hotel safe deposit box carefully locking it properly and for the deposit there will be no charges so, you can freely keep your belongings which are not needed. The Nepal domestic airlines do not exceed more than 15 kg which also includes your hand baggage. If your baggage exceeds more than 15 kg then some charge should be deposit which is not included in the package.  

Guide/Porter on Trek:

We the company Ganesh Himal hiking team will be providing you the well expert trained trekking guide who will be handling all your trip issue. Also we will be providing you a cordial and sincere porter who will be carrying your 10 kg luggage of each client. Like if you are trekking in a huge group like more than 10 people than we will be providing you an extra guide which will be divided into two groups or more than three according to the number of people in the group. 

Group Size, Guide and Crew Member:

Ganesh Himal hiking team arranges trek with the minimum solitary client to maximum 16 clients in a group. In the larger group we will be arranged by dividing the groups. However one can stay in the same lodge but during your trek you will be having a different guide. We the Ganesh Himal Hiking team offers one guide for maximum 10 people in the group and if the number exceeds more than 10 till 16 then we will be providing you 2 guides. 

Personal Expenses on Trek:

Your personal expenses should be deposited by yourself like if you addicted to alcohol and all the alcohol you consume during your trip should be paid by yourself that goes to snacks or any other additional meals. Though the cost of accommodation and meals are included in package but such additional meals and drinks- alcohol and non-alcohol beverage, snacks, tips for guide and porters, hot shower- accessible only in some hotel, entrance fee around $ 25 for visiting heritage sites of Kathmandu, meals while you are in Kathmandu and the normal meals will cost around $ 5-7. It is up to you whether you like to give tips to the guide and porter, if you are satisfied with their services then you can tip them.

Gears Available in Kathmandu:

For the trekking equipment you can easily get it at Nepal country stores at the reasonable price and if you like you can also rent the trekking equipment. You don’t have to carry or buy from your hometown because all the trekking gear can be easily available in this country –Nepal.  

A Typical Day on Trek:

On a customary day you are necessary to trek for 4-6 hours each day. After breakfast we will start to walk and then we will be stopping for a lunch and after lunch we will walk for 3-4 hours to reach our destination. After lunch we will be trekking only for few hours and we will reach our trekking destination in 1—2 hours. Like in some days you will reach your destination in afternoon hours and then you can have lunch and then relax, or take shower, read a novel or wander around the area and even you can play cards with the group, guide and all.

Our Greetings at Airport:

We suggest you that when you are confirmed for this trip we advise you to give us your international flight schedule so, we the team can easily get to you and pick you up from the airport on time. As soon as you finish processing the customs formalities and come out from there and there you can find our representative carrying a signboard of Ganesh Himal Hiking Team and the team will greet you and take you to the hotel in private vehicle. Like if you have already booked the hotel by your own then we advise informing the hotel that you are staying so it will be easy for our representative to drop you at the hotel.

Itinerary and Possible Changes on it:

Our usual itinerary of the trek is 20 days which is main customary and pragmatic. In this 20 days itinerary it has also included your arrival day, departure day or Kathmandu sightseeing day tour are all included in this package itinerary. If you like to adjust the itinerary we can set it for you as per your desire so, before that let us know before booking the trip and then we will arrange the itinerary and the cost. Like if you like to extend more days then we will even manage it for you as in our package we have kept extra day because we don’t know the situation of Himalaya weather it suddenly changes and faces problems like delayed flights or cancellation of flight.


Client’s safety is our main priority and makes sure that each and every client is well taken care of.  If by chance anyone got sick during trek we will take you to the hospital and if one is seriously ill then we will rescue a helicopter and then they will take you to the hospital and all the expenses are carried out by the travel insurance company so, make sure to cover the insurance policy. Booking and Payment:

For booking any trip, trek, expedition first you have to deposit 20% in advance if you are confirmed for the trek you have to send even your flight detail schedule, a passport photocopy and if you cancel the booking then this 20% is not -refundable.  The remaining 80% can be paid when you reach Kathmandu and if you want to pay in advance you can deposit it by transferring through a bank, credit card so, lets us know then we will be sending you the detail for payment. 

Flight Delay in Kathmandu and Lukla:

Only domestic mountain flight is only available to Lukla and sometimes the flight might be delayed or canceled due to unforeseen adverse Himalaya weather condition so, that why we have kept the extra day in the itinerary to cover up such situation like delay or cancel the flight. In case if the flight is canceled for 2 or more than that, then we will have to charter a helicopter and make sure that you reach on scheduled flight and reach safely in your own home. This extra service cost can be deposited directly to the Ganesh Himal Hiking Team office and the expense is carried out by the Insurance Company as the helicopter charter cost will be maximum US$ 500 or the US $ 3500 which depends on a number of people in flight.

An amazing trip with Ganesh Himal Hiking to Kathmandu, Mt. Everest BC, Pokhara and Chitwas

We received outstanding personal service from Binod and his team at Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. It was an exceptional experience in every way. We were met at the airport, he gave us personal transportation along with many great tours to cultural sites in Kathmandu, he took us to some wonderful restaurants and he set us up in a very nice hotel in Thammel. Binod really knows how to take great care of his clients with a personal touch. We also loved meeting his mother, father and his family which added greatly to our cultural experience in Nepal.

Additionally, Binod's brother Bishnu, was our guide on our trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Bishnu took excellent care of my trekking partner and me throughout the trek to Everest Base Camp and back. Our trek was also an amazing cultural experience as well as a remarkable trekking experience! We loved the Nepalese people and, of course, we loved seeing the incredible scenery. Also, Binod personally guided us on a trip to Pokhara, Nepal where he arranged for us a guided rafting trip, a paragliding trip and a trip to Chitwan National Park where we did a tour on the back of an elephant spotting wildlife and we were able to attend a nice cultural program. The accommodations in Pokhara and the food were fantastic. I highly recommend Binod and his Ganesh Himal Hiking Team to anyone who is interested in receiving the best service and the best trekking and cultural experience in Nepal.
