Our guides will take you to the Sagarmatha National Park from where you get the splendid views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde etc. If you are willing for a small trek, we can trek to Khumjung village (12401 feet) - one of the Sherpa settlements where the trails lead you to beautiful flora and fauna of this region.

Today we will begin climbing a ridge for an excellent view down the valley to Kangtaiga and trek upwards to the Cho Oyu (8153 m).  The path slowly widens as the path passes through Phangkha - place where lots of people died due to the avalanche occurred in 1995.

We then descend to the river bank before climbing onto the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa Glacier on a steep trail. Upon crossing an iron bridge over a stream, the trail levels out as it follows the valley past the first lake known as Longpongo - at 4690 m.

At this juncture, we get a chance to observe lama footprints on a stone. At the sight of the second lake - Taboche Tsho, we become mesmerized by the shimmering turquoise blue sheet of water sparkling in the sun. Little ahead of the second lake, we then reach the third lake linked by a surging stream.

Gokyo village stands by the third lake and Cho Oyu Mountain as a backdrop sets an amazing spectacular sight here. After lunch, we explore the third lake - Dudh Pokhari. We will spend the night in Gokyo.

Day 09: Gokyo Valley: Acclimatization Day - Optional Hike to 5th Lake: 6-7 hours

We will be walking 3 km north of Gokyo to reach the fourth lake - also called Thonak Tsho. We take desire in the lake’s serene beauty and continue to the 5th lake - also called Ngozumba Tsho.

If we want to, we can climb a hill, also called the Scoundrel's Viewpoint which is located at the edge of the 5th lake. From here, we get astounding views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu mountains. From here, we also see the Cho Oyu base camp. In fact, Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang seem just a stone's throw away.

Another treat for us is the view of the biggest glacier in the world - the Ngozumba Glacier.

We trek back to Gokyo and spend the night there.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Accommodation: Tea House or Trekking Lodge.

Day 10: Gokyo to Thagnak (4750 m & 15580 feet): 4km, 4 - 5 hours

If on the previous day we did not trek the Gokyo Lake, we can attempt it today by climbing to the topmost of Gokyo Ri which is challenging as it is steep and it almost takes 3-4 hours to reach the top. Nonetheless, the scenery of Gokyo village on the edge of the third lake overlooked by Cholatse and the wide Nogzumpa Glacier is amazingly outstanding.

We will be surrounded by panoramic mountains like Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, Kangtega, Taboche, Cholatse, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Changtse, and Pumori. The sight of sunrays of the Everest which towers over all the surrounding peaks is astounding. We trek through the Ngazumpa Glacier to the mountain on the other side. Next, we cross along the edge of that mountain and then wander into Thagnak. It will be a short trek today with a mid-afternoon rest which will prepare us for long hiking days and adapt the acclimatization which is yet to come.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Accommodation: Tea House or Trekking Lodge.

Day 11: Thagnak to Cho La pass (5367 m & 17604 feet) to Dzongla (15939 feet): 7 km, 7 - 8 hours

Today our trekking will be challenging to the Cho La Pass, though this pass is not itself tough, but it is steep and includes a glacier that crosses on the eastern side.Through the trail, one must be cautious as the trail is upright and the rocks glazed by ice may cause concern by making the track slippery.

The trail from Phedi climbs through a ravine and a rocky trail. While trekking through the side of a frozen lake, we reach the top of the pass decorated with prayer flags. The pyramidal Ama Dablam presides over a range of mountains on the south even as Cholatse soars to the west and Lobuche East and Baruntse rises sharply to our right.

We need to pass through some crevasses before we reach Dzongla Village. The village offers great views of Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Lobuche Mountains along with the Pheriche Village far below.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Accommodation: Tea House or Trekking Lodge.

Day 12: Dzongla to Lobuche (4940 m & 16207 feet): 6 km, 2 - 3 hours

This will be a very short trek - so we have an abundant time to rest and relish the magnificence that environs us. We then climb down from Dzongla and trek over a grassy trail while relishing the sight of Lobuche Peak. The trail curves through the wide river bed before reaching Lobuche. We can spend the rest of day taking rest which will help us prepare for the next day’s long trek. Overnight in Lobuche.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Accommodation: Tea House or Trekking Lodge.

Day 13: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5170 m & 16961 feet) - visit Everest Base Camp (5364 m & 17594 feet): 13 km, 6-7 hours

We take the path to Everest Base Camp over the huge Gorak Shep Lake. Enduring straight ahead, we will come through the Indian army mountaineers' memorials. The path from here can be deceptive; therefore, it is significant that we follow our lead guides attentively. The walk is strenuous due to thin air in the high altitude. We pass through rocky dunes, moraine, and streams before reaching the Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, we see tents of mountaineers that stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surroundings (especially in the spring). Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori are the mountains we can view from the base camp. We get back to Gorak Shep for a good night's rest. Overnight in Gorak Shep.

However, the sunset view from Kala Patthar is more admirable than the sunrise view, so it is recommended that we visit Kala Patthar today during sunset. As the setting sun's rays strike the snow-capped mountains, the resulting scenery is incredible. Therefore, for those trekkers who wish to continue to Kala Patthar today instead of the next day, please inform your guide and he/she will organize accordingly.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Accommodation: Tea House or Trekking Lodge.

Day 14: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5545 m & 18192 feet) to Pherice (4288 m & 14070 feet): 16 km, 7-8 hours

Today we will be arranging for an early morning departure, among pre-dawn darkness and cold temperatures (-10 to -14 C). Plus, there is constantly for the possibility of chilly winds which are relatively common.

Familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse tower to the east even as Everest begins to expose itself. But, it is upon reaching Kala Patthar that we get to see 360 degree up-close and challenging views of Mount Everest. We take pictures here and relish the splendid mountain panorama, and then return back to Lobuche spending our night here.

After the breakfast, we will be heading to the Everest Base Camp today to start early as Everest base camp hike takes longer than the hike at Kala Patthar. After returning to Gorak Shep, we will have our lunch at here in the afternoon is taken to descend down to Pheriche and spend the night.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Accommodation: Tea House or Trekking Lodge.

Day 15: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar: 20 km, 6 - 7 hours

Today we will be trekking down over the hillside covered by dense rhododendron and juniper trees. Subsequently crossing the prayer-flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, our path trails the Dudh Koshi gorge descending swiftly through pine forests. In the forest, we may come through interesting pheasants and Himalayan goats. The trail ultimately reaches Sansa from where we can enjoy sights of Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Nuptse mountains. We will be also passed by winding trails then through a forest before reaching Namche Bazaar Overnight in Namche.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Accommodation: Tea House or Trekking Lodge.

Day 16: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2800 m & 9186 feet): 19 km, 6 - 7 hours

The path descends steeply to the downward - so one must need to walk carefully as our unstable legs constantly encounter the rocky land. Afterward crossing the suspension bridges over the fast flowing Dudh Koshi and its co-rivers, the trail becomes in perfect level and natural. After our arrival in Lukla, we take rest and relax our body and spend the night in Lukla.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Accommodation: Tea House or Trekking Lodge.

Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu

Today we will take an airstrip and fly back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu - we will drive you to your respective hotel and then you can take rest and freshen up.

After confirming or booking the trip – all we need is the copy of the passport, insurance policy, and the international flight details (ticket). Then, a 20% advance deposit is required for any trip, trek or expedition which is not refundable - used for reservations of hotels and lodges according to the itinerary.

The remaining balance is due when you arrive at Kathmandu and can be paid by any means convenient to you. We prefer payment via cash (to avoid any extra service charge) but bank transfer, credit cards, western union, and pay pal are also the accepted form of payments.

Flight Delay in Kathmandu and Lukla:

Only domestic mountain flight is only available from Kathmandu to Lukla and sometimes the flight might be delayed or canceled due to unforeseen adverse Himalaya weather condition.

This is the reason we have kept an extra day in the itinerary to cover up such situations. The expense for this service will be carried out by the insurance company which can be deposited directly in the office of the Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. The helicopter charter cost is in between the US $ 500 to $ 3500 depending upon the number of people in the flight.

An amazing trip with Ganesh Himal Hiking to Kathmandu, Mt. Everest BC, Pokhara and Chitwas

hil32015 | Spokane, Washington | October 26 , 2014

Rating: 5 - Excellent

We received outstanding personal service from Binod and his team at Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. It was an exceptional experience in every way. We were met at the airport, he gave us personal transportation along with many great tours to cultural sites in Kathmandu, he took us to some wonderful restaurants and he set us up in a very nice hotel in Thammel. Binod really knows how to take great care of his clients with a personal touch. We also loved meeting his mother, father and his family which added greatly to our cultural experience in Nepal.

Additionally, Binod's brother Bishnu, was our guide on our trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Bishnu took excellent care of my trekking partner and me throughout the trek to Everest Base Camp and back. Our trek was also an amazing cultural experience as well as a remarkable trekking experience! We loved the Nepalese people and, of course, we loved seeing the incredible scenery. Also, Binod personally guided us on a trip to Pokhara, Nepal where he arranged for us a guided rafting trip, a paragliding trip and a trip to Chitwan National Park where we did a tour on the back of an elephant spotting wildlife and we were able to attend a nice cultural program. The accommodations in Pokhara and the food were fantastic. I highly recommend Binod and his Ganesh Himal Hiking Team to anyone who is interested in receiving the best service and the best trekking and cultural experience in Nepal.
