Trip Information

Manaslu  tsum valley hiking, located in north eastern side of the manaslu which is also well known as mountain of the soul was opened in 2008 for explorers at an altitude 8163 meter high. It is one of the unique adventurous trekking routes around manaslu. Tsum valley trek in this geographically gives extra spectacular and culturally most mesmerizing zone that rewards the explorers to ascertain eventual nature and cultural heritage and get to experience the mountain lifestyles in tsum valley. Most of the entire the valley is rich in ancient art, culture and religion. The valley is blessed with Himalayan Buddhists pilgrimage sites located in northern part of gorkha district, Nepal.

The trails begin from the middle hills leads to the trailhead beyond Arughat bazaar gorkha after 6-7 hours’ drive from Kathmandu. You will exploring through beautiful valley of machhikhola, jagat lakpa Nile  Dupchet and finally reach your destinations the Tsum valley trek.  The trek is more remote in trail with jagged steep paths and only few luxury accommodations. Most of the inhabitants are mostly Tibetan people where the people believed that it is blessed by (padmasambhava) the Buddhists god. They speak different language which is similar to Tibetan language. On the way you will be passing through mixed forests, terraced fields, and mountain settlements and view Himalayan view of mountains like Mt. Manaslu 8163meter, Mt. Dhaulagiri 8167m, Mt. Annapurna 8091m, and 3 additional crags peaks with lovely sceneries. Numerous alpine forests, glacial rivers, cascading waterfalls, alongside with natural hot springs, greets you en-route along with enjoying the warm hospitality of the locals, lifestyles, traditions and their culture plus their language. You will be also visiting the most ancient Buddhists monasteries of the region including other monasteries like Rachen gompa, Mu Gompa (3700m).and many more.  

This trekking tour is restricted trekking in Nepal and it required special trekking permit through legal Nepal trekking agency and good physical condition state and fitness is the most important. Autumn and spring season is the best season to trek so one can enjoy the entire view if tsum valley trek. We GHHT members give more priority to the trekkers’ choice and their desire so they feel more comfortable during the trekking section so, this trekking trail gives you the most thrilling experience to nature and the splendor view of the mountain makes you wanting to do more trekking in upcoming further period.

ITINARARY

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu & Transfer to Hotel (1,300m/4,264ft)

Upon our advent in the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, we will be welcomed by a representative from GHHT (Ganesh Himal Hiking Team) who will drop us off to our hotel. After checking in, we take a rest or visit Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. We may also stroll in the streets of Thamel, a traveler hub in Kathmandu for some souvenir shop. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner held by GHHT members where you will be served outstanding authentic Nepalese cuisine which will present you to the country's food culture.  Spend overnight in Kathmandu hotel. Including meals: Dinner

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Today after breakfast we will begin a guided tour to several of the most historic and mystical captivations in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are reflected World Heritage Sites; as well as the renowned Durbar Square, the sanctified Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the well-known 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambunath) and Buddhists memorial (BouddhaNath) which is one of the great Stupas in the world. In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can encounter our hike leader and other crew members. (GHHT Ganesh Himal Hiking Team) mandates us as regards our hike as well as provides ample chance to ask any queries we may have about our forthcoming venture. Spend overnight in Kathmandu hotel. Plus meals: Breakfast

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Arughat (600m/1,968ft) 7-8 hours’ drive

7-8 hour's drive from Kathmandu into the western mountains which takes us to Arughat via Dhadingbesi, headquarter of the Dhading region. Through the dirt road from Dhadingbesi viewing the greenery hills we reach Arughat, our trek start point. Arughat is a main town in the region and is divided in two parts with the Budhi Gandaki River flowing between them.  We will be spending overnight in Arughat. Including meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 04: Arughat to Soti Khola (700m/2,296ft): 5-6 hours

We cross the bridge over Budhi Gandaki and begin our trek from the western part of Arughat., we follow the stone-paved street north through the bazaar. We pass through the hydro- electric power plant, fields of rice and millet to Mangaltar, and through forests we arrive at Shanti Bazar. The trail to Budhi Gandaki gorge now becomes steeper and the trek more difficult as we cross the Arkhet Khola on a suspension bridge, transitory the shops of Arkhet Bazar. Run down to a high, flowing waterfall making a long steep slog up a ridge to Kuerepani. Then from here the trail descends to Soti Khola. We will be staying overnight at the campsite in Soti Khola and also Overnight in Soti Khola. Included meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 05: Soti Khola to Maccha Khola (870m/2,952ft): 6-7 hours

Cross the bridge and trek through the beautiful Sal forests, then climb onto a ridge above huge rapids on the Budhi Gandaki. The rocky trail then weaves its way up and down, past two tropical waterfalls on a steep, rocky trail clinging to the side of a cliff. It finally makes its way down and past a few rice terraces, then up and around to the Gurung community of Labubesi. Climb behind a rocky outcrop, where the valley opens and the Budhi Gandaki meanders among wide gravel bars. Drop to the sandy river bed and walk along rounded stones before climbing over a side ridge. Head down again to the river and traverse to Machha Khola village.  Spend the overnight at Machha Khola. Included meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

 Day 06: Maccha Khola to Jagat (2340m/7676ft): 6-7 hours

The narrow trail makes some minor ups and downs and eventually crosses the Tharo Khola, flowing in a rocky ravine, then reaches Khorlabesi. After a few more ups & downs there is a small trailside hotspring, from where we reach to Tatopani. From the Hot spring we climb over another ridge, then cross the Budhi Gandaki on a suspension bridge. Climb on a wide, well-crafted staircase, then across a landslide and over a ridge to Dobhan. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Dobhan Khola, the trail climbs on a rugged trail to Duman. Ascending up again to the Budhi Gandaki, we reach at Yaru Khola. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Yaru Khola we climb the stone stairs and then drop to the river and again climb more stone stairs to Tharo Bharyang. Cross to the west bank of the budhi gandaki, climb over a ridge, and trek along the river then climb towards the village of Jagat. Included meals : Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 07: Jagat to Chisopani (1660m/5,445ft): 4-5 hours

After finishing with the ACAP process, we hike over a stony ridge to Salleri, and then run down to Sirdibas. The vale widens a bit as the trail lasts up to Ghatta Khola. Continue upstream to a long simple dangling bridge. Climb up to Philim, a large gurung village. Philim valley is well known for Japanese made school and police station. Walk past Philim to the north across a forest with the views of the narrowing valley we reach Chisopani. Spend overnight at Chisopani. Included meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 08: Chisopani to Chumling (2,386m/7,827ft): 6 - 7 hours

After Ekle Bhatti cross the gorge and half an hour walk in the right side we get to see the big and beautiful waterfall and enter the pine tree forests. Descend down to trail going to the Tsum Valley. Climb through pine and rhododendron forests. Enjoy the views of Himalchuli mountains at 7893m  and Boudha Himal from Lokpa, a small beautiful village. Pass Lokpa, descend half an hour towards Lungwa khola and climbing jick jack difficult trail further two hours north through pines and rhododendrons we reach Gumlung. Crossing the Siyar Khola, finally arrive at Chumling, from where we can view Shringi Himal. Visit the old Chumling gompa, and the stone streets of the village. Included meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 09: Chumling to Chokhangparo (3,010m/9,903ft): 4-5 hours

Cross the suspension bridge onto the opposite bank. Enjoy the great views of Ganesh Himal. Walk past Rainjam to Serpu Khola crossing another bridge we arrive at the Gho Village.  Another continues 2 hours climb to Tsum takes us to the village of Chhokangparo. Weather permitting; enjoy the views of Himalchuli at 7893 meters and Ganesh Himal at7140m. We will be spending overnight rest at Chokhangparo. Included meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 10: Chokhangparo to Nile (3,361m/11,058ft): 5-6 hours

While ascending above Chokhangparo, be better to be cautious of elevation problems. Walk past Lamagaon overpass rope suspension bridge to the Rachen Gompa, which is also well known as Nunnery Gompa too. We make a small visit and then we cross the Shiar Khola. Continue walking through the well managed villages Lar (micro hydro power), Phurbe and Pangdun. Leaving old historic Stupa of Bhudda in a way crossing the village of Chhule, climb upstream and cross the bridge to finally arrive at Nile. If you consider we can make your visit to a famous monastery of Chhule which is located in the top of area. Included meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 11: Nile to Mu Gompa (3,700m/12,174ft): 3 hours

We are now almost close to the Tibetan border. Walk to the west bank of the valley through the Tibetan landscapes. Climb up to the Mu Gompa. We also visit the monastery. Then after, we make a visit to the Dhephu Doma Gompa. Including meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 12: Mu Gompa, sightseeing

Today we make a sightseeing of the whole Mu Gompa Region. Mu Gompa is the largest monastery in the region. The Gompa lies at the highest and most remote part of the Tsum Valley. After exploring the Mu Gompa area, you may also consider the option of getting to the base of Pika Himal (4865m).

Day 13: Mu Gompa to Burgi Village (3,245m/10644ft) via Milarepa cave: 5 hours

Trek back through Chhule and Phurbe, on the east bank of the Shiar Khola. Finally we arrive at Burgi village. The Burgi village is a small beautiful village.  Climb up to the Milarepa's Cave Milarepa Cave (piren phu) is known for its mesmerizing glimpses of Poshyop Glacier, Kipu Himal and Churke himal. Day 14: Burgi village -Chumling (2,386/7,827ft): 5-6 hours

Continue trekking watching the greenery of nature and descend down to Chhokang Paro again. From their continue descending to Gho. Descending further, we arrive at the bridge over the Sarpu Khola. Trekking along the lower Tsum Valley takes you to again Chumling. Included meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 15: Chumling to Philim (1,570m/5,103ft): 6-7 hours

The trail continues to Lokpa. After lunch south on a flat trail we move ahead. Enjoy the gorgeous Samba Falls. Finally arrive at Philim after 6 or 7 hours long trekking. A trail passes through the Phillim village that leads to the Ganesh Himal Base Camp. Including meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 16: Philim to Khorlabesi(970m/3182ft: 6-7 hours

Trek starts today from Philim to Khorlabesi via Jagat and Tatopani.  Descend down to Sirdibas and we finally reach to Jagat. Further descend takes us to Yaruphant. The arid Tibetan climate now gives way to subtropical green vegetation. Continue trekking to Dobhan. Finally arrive at Tatopani. There is a hot spring at Tatopani. If interested, you may dip yourself in the hot spring and relax your tired muscles by soaking yourself in the hot spring. If not continue walking up and down from Tatopani to reach Khorlabesi, our rest place for the day. Including meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 17: Khorlabesi to Soti Khola (700m/2,296ft): 6-7 hours

The trail crosses the Tharo Khola flowing in a rocky ravine. Head down again to the river and traverse to Machha Khola village. Walk along the Budhi Gandaki River to reach to Gurung village of Labubesi. Pass the two waterfalls on a steep rocky trail on the side of a cliff. We then reach Khursane. Walk along the ridge above Budhi Gandaki and cross the Sal forests. Finally, cross the bridge to arrive at Soti Khola. Including meals breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 18: Soti Khola to Arughat to Kathmandu (600m/1,968ft): Walk 4 hours and drive 7-8 hours

Climb up to the ridge of Kyorpani. Descend down to the cascading waterfall. Trekking further arrive at Arkhet. Cross the Arkhet Khola. We are now leaving the Budhi Gandaki Valley. Arrive at Sante Bazaar; pass through the forests to Maltar. Finally, passing by the hydroelectric plant following the stone streets, we arrive at the Arughat Bazar. Back to Kathmandu along the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers with splendid views of green hills, mountains, farming terraces and villages on both sides of the road. To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, we will have a farewell dinner in the evening. Overnight in Kathmandu.Included meals: Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day 19: Departure

Your exploration in Nepal comes to a conclusion today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel acquaintances and organize the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. A representative from GHHT members will take you to the airport approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal. Included meals: Breakfast

Hotel and Lodge:

Ganesh Himal Hiking team arranges the best comfy and pleasant accommodation and provides you the well-nourished hygienic foods. Throughout your stay in Kathmandu i.e. 3 nights you will be staying at the best standard hotel which will be rating at 2- 3-star hotel. Although if you want to stay at 4- 5-star hotel in the well sumptuous hotel and are able to pay for this expenses then you have this kind of choices but for the luxurious hotel the payment should be deposited by the clients itself. As the Ganesh Himal Hiking team company can only afford the hotel which is the rate at 2-3 star hotels. However once you are set for your trek there will be no such facilities like in the city of Kathmandu and one should not expect like Kathmandu as we are trekking to the remote area so, we will be staying at tea houses and local lodges. In such hotel there will be a usual bed and of course pillow. Most of the lodges of this region depend on lanterns or candle only a few has the facility of electric lights nonetheless you will be getting clean hygienic food which is most important. Most of the lodges will be already booked earlier before your trek however in some situation we will be not able to book in advance but not to worry we can book -in while reaching there because there are ample of lodges and some tea houses in this region and if not we can easily set a camp which will the most adventurous part of the trek itself is interesting and adventurous.

Meals and Drinks:

We the company totally focuses on client’s meals by making sure that each and every client get the same portion which is clean hygienic and nourished which is most necessary while trekking. While trekking all the meals i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided but in the Kathmandu city sometimes breakfast and sometimes dinner are included where you can go through the each detail itinerary below. During trek breakfast and dinner will be served in the lodges or teahouses and for the lunch our expert trek leader or guide will be taking you the best clean hotels. However we suggest you carry a water purification tablets to purify the water as on the way you will get normal water but if you want bottled mineral water you will easily get in some shops or tea houses but the expense of the bottled water should be paid by the client itself as it is not included in package.

Best Season to Travel:

The flawless seasons for Nepal visit will be in the spring season in the month of March to May and autumn season on September and November. Even in winter one can travel but only if you can bear the cold weather season. We strongly recommended the clients not to trek on the monsoon season on the month of June, July and August because during this period it rains heavenly and in day afternoon the sun rays will be extremely blazing heat so, it will be difficult to trek. So, we suggest every client trek in the specific seasons.

Luggage/Backpack:

Throughout your trekking your luggage will be carried by our porters and you have to carry your own small baggage containing your own water bottle, towel, tissue or toilet paper, camera or any other stuff which you usually carry and this small baggage should be carried by yourself. Some of the gears and clothes which are not needed during your trek can be left in the hotel safe deposit box carefully locking it properly and for the deposit there will be no charges so, you can freely keep your belongings which are not needed. The Nepal domestic airlines do not exceed more than 15 kg which also includes your hand baggage. If your baggage exceeds more than 15 kg then some charge should be deposit which is not included in the package.  

Guide/Porter on Trek:

We the company Ganesh Himal hiking team will be providing you the well expert trained trekking guide who will be handling all your trip issue. Also we will be providing you a cordial and sincere porter who will be carrying your 10 kg luggage of each client. Like if you are trekking in a huge group like more than 10 people than we will be providing you an extra guide which will be divided into two groups or more than three according to the number of people in the group. 

Group Size, Guide and Crew Member:

Ganesh Himal hiking team arranges trek with the minimum solitary client to maximum 16 clients in a group. In the larger group we will be arranged by dividing the groups. However one can stay in the same lodge but during your trek you will be having a different guide. We the Ganesh Himal Hiking team offers one guide for maximum 10 people in the group and if the number exceeds more than 10 till 16 then we will be providing you 2 guides. 

Personal Expenses on Trek:

Your personal expenses should be deposited by yourself like if you addicted to alcohol and all the alcohol you consume during your trip should be paid by yourself that goes to snacks or any other additional meals. Though the cost of accommodation and meals are included in package but such additional meals and drinks- alcohol and non-alcohol beverage, snacks, tips for guide and porters, hot shower- accessible only in some hotel, entrance fee around $ 25 for visiting heritage sites of Kathmandu, meals while you are in Kathmandu and the normal meals will cost around $ 5-7. It is up to you whether you like to give tips to the guide and porter, if you are satisfied with their services then you can tip them.

Gears Available in Kathmandu:

For the trekking equipment you can easily get it at Nepal country stores at the reasonable price and if you like you can also rent the trekking equipment. You don’t have to carry or buy from your hometown because all the trekking gear can be easily available in this country –Nepal.  

A Typical Day on Trek:

On a customary day you are necessary to trek for 4-6 hours each day. After breakfast we will start to walk and then we will be stopping for a lunch and after lunch we will walk for 3-4 hours to reach our destination. After lunch we will be trekking only for few hours and we will reach our trekking destination in 1—2 hours. Like in some days you will reach your destination in afternoon hours and then you can have lunch and then relax, or take shower, read a novel or wander around the area and even you can play cards with the group, guide and all.

Our Greetings at Airport:

We suggest you that when you are confirmed for this trip we advise you to give us your international flight schedule so, we the team can easily get to you and pick you up from the airport on time. As soon as you finish processing the customs formalities and come out from there and there you can find our representative carrying a signboard of Ganesh Himal Hiking Team and the team will greet you and take you to the hotel in private vehicle. Like if you have already booked the hotel by your own then we advise informing the hotel that you are staying so it will be easy for our representative to drop you at the hotel.

Itinerary and Possible Changes on it:

Our usual itinerary of the trek is 19 days which is main customary and pragmatic that has also included your arrival day, departure day or Kathmandu sightseeing day tour are all included in this package itinerary. If you like to adjust the itinerary we can set it for you as per your desire so, before that let us know before booking the trip and then we will arrange the itinerary and the cost. Like if you like to extend more days then we will even manage it for you as in our package we have kept extra day because we don’t know the situation of Himalaya weather it suddenly changes and faces problems like delayed flights or cancellation of flight.

Insurance/Rescue/Evacuation:

Client’s safety is our main priority and makes sure that each and every client is well taken care of.  If by chance anyone got sick during trek we will take you to the hospital and if one is seriously ill then we will rescue a helicopter and then they will take you to the hospital and all the expenses are carried out by the travel insurance company so, make sure to cover the insurance policy. Booking and Payment:

For booking any trip, trek, expedition first you have to deposit 20% in advance if you are confirmed for the trek you have to send even your flight detail schedule, a passport photocopy and if you cancel the booking then this 20% is not -refundable.  The remaining 80% can be paid when you reach Kathmandu and if you want to pay in advance you can deposit it by transferring through a bank, credit card so, lets us know then we will be sending you the detail for payment.

We received outstanding personal service from Binod and his team at Ganesh Himal Hiking Team. It was an exceptional experience in every way. We were met at the airport, he gave us personal transportation along with many great tours to cultural sites in Kathmandu, he took us to some wonderful restaurants and he set us up in a very nice hotel in Thammel. Binod really knows how to take great care of his clients with a personal touch. We also loved meeting his mother, father and his family which added greatly to our cultural experience in Nepal.

Additionally, Binod's brother Bishnu, was our guide on our trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Bishnu took excellent care of my trekking partner and me throughout the trek to Everest Base Camp and back. Our trek was also an amazing cultural experience as well as a remarkable trekking experience! We loved the Nepalese people and, of course, we loved seeing the incredible scenery. Also, Binod personally guided us on a trip to Pokhara, Nepal where he arranged for us a guided rafting trip, a paragliding trip and a trip to Chitwan National Park where we did a tour on the back of an elephant spotting wildlife and we were able to attend a nice cultural program. The accommodations in Pokhara and the food were fantastic.
